Spending time in this home as a juror for the Solar Decathlon in DC. Here are photos and a video of the home designed and built by Team Maryland. The homes are all open to the public through October 2, 2011 (free admission) and the winners for the Architecture category will be announced tomorrow morning on Capital Hill.

    Nice place, thanks for the section showing the framing and insulation. It looks like 2×6 t&g on the walls and roof. Do you have an explanation on why they went this way instead of a more eco friendly structural sheathing.
    As an observation the foam on the exterior side moves the dew point to the exterior side of the wall shaething, the voids in the wall and roof foam shouldn’t create a moisture issue inside the wall framing cavities. I am assuming that there is no vapor barrier on the inside to allow the inside to breath. Any moisture in the form of vapor that gets into the wall from within should just work its way back into the home.
