Wow. This is pretty amazing.
The Museum of Science and Industry is inviting an adventurous, curious soul to live in the museum 24/7 for 30 days, AND (wait for it)…will pay them $10,000 to do so.
This is one of my all-time favorite museums from when I was small (which was a super long time ago), and one I would absolutely love to live in. Plus, it includes the Smart Home we designed, so even better.
Here is the scoop from the MSI website:
Museum of Science and Industry Timeline
In 1893, our building opened as part of the Columbian Exposition.
In 1933, we opened as the Museum of Science and Industry with a coal mine.
In 1954, we got a submarine.
In 1994, we got a 727.
In 2010, we’ll be getting a roommate.Be a Part of Museum History
The Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago is looking for “you.” And by “you,” we mean an adventurous, outgoing person with a strong interest in learning about science and the world around her or him, plus the ability to write very well about your experiences. Ideally, you’re also the web-savvy sort who can keep your thumb out of frame when taking photographs. If that “you” sounds like you, or if you are simply curious about this intriguing endeavor, then you should read on.We’re looking for someone to take on a once-in-a-lifetime assignment: spend a Month at the Museum, to live and breathe science 24/7 for 30 days. From October 20 to November 18, 2010, this person’s mission will be to experience all the fun and education that fits in this historic 14-acre building, living here full-time and reporting your findings to the outside world.
Sure, it’s a commitment. But if you are chosen and can successfully complete the Month at the Museum, you’ll walk away with a prize of $10,000, a package of tech gadgets, an honorary lifetime membership to MSI, and new knowledge and experiences that may just transform you.

I’m in!!!
Hello
I have applied to be the one selected to stay in the Musuem for the 30 days. I too grew up going to the Museum for school field trips and since I still live just outside Chicago I still visit with friends and family when I can. This is one Museum that I just never seem to get enough of. So I am also very interested in learning more about the Smart Home so if I get picked for this adventure I will know how to get the full benefit out of what it has to offer. Is there someone who can share the key points of the Smart Home with me? I think I would be a great person to share what the Museum with those who have still yet to visit it and with your help I can be sure to do it correctly.
Thanks
